To create 2D as-built documentation from Point Clouds

Undet Launches Specialized Software to Turn Point Clouds into 2D Drawings

At Undet, we are pleased to announce our partnership with Graebert, the developers of ARES Commander. The outcome being the Undet for ARES Commander plugin that lets users import and work on point cloud data directly inside ARES software.

ARES Commander is CAD software that allows users to create and modify both 2D and 3D DWG drawings. The software, which includes unique and smart productivity tools, offers many of the features of well-known CAD software such as AutoCAD, but at a significantly reduced cost.

Undet produces software plugins that enable users to quickly and efficiently turn point cloud data into 3D models and 2D drawings in CAD software.  The easy-to-use solutions made by laser scanning company “Terra Modus”, offer a suite of innovative tools that make it possible to produce deliverables quicker and more accurately than ever before.

Despite the growing popularity of using point clouds to create 3D & BIM models, the majority of Undet users only produce 2D drawings from the data. This is because for many tasks (e.g. floorplans, elevations, etc) and building types (simple buildings, heritage objects) 2D representations are a better and more efficient choice.

Undet Launches Specialized Software to Turn Point Clouds into 2D Drawings

Undet’s new point cloud to CAD solution, developed together with Graebert, is an ideal solution for CAD users who are working on such projects and want an easy-to-use and cost-effective way to create 2D deliverables from point cloud data.

If you are new to creating 2D deliverables, we have added drawing templates and specialized workspaces for certain jobs that do not just take you step by step in an easy-to-understand manner, many steps have already been performed automatically for you.

We have also developed a lot of specialist tools to insert objects (such as doors and windows) and annotate objects. All Undet plugins, including this one, contain Undet Browser, which helps to sync a position in a point cloud and panoramic image with just one click, making it quicker than ever to understand a point cloud.
