Undet Browser with Undet for Revit
Undet Browser functionality between Undet for Revit plug-in:
What is Undet Browser?
Undet Browser is a free stand-alone point cloud viewer explicitly created to help you view, analyze and navigate your digital data as a panoramic view. This will help you better and more quickly understand your scan data and share it with colleagues and customers.
Undet Browser solves the main problem where it is not always easy to view and understand the point cloud in a CAD model and where you often have to look at another screen loaded with a particular point cloud viewer. Most point cloud viewers work as separate software. Undet point cloud viewer works quite differently and offers unique features when point cloud viewer and Undet plug-ins are synchronized.
Creating an Undet Browser Project
To create an Undet point cloud project compatible with Undet Browser, check the “Create Undet Browser Project” option in Undet Indexer settings. This option enables the creation of an Undet Browser project associated with your point cloud data, enhancing your ability to view, analyze, and navigate your data in panoramic views.
Technical requirements for your point clouds to use Undet Browser:
- Point cloud data must be structured with scan station center information.
- Supported file formats: *.E57, *.IPCP, *.FLS, *.ZFS, *.RCP, *.PTX
- The following point cloud file formats are unstructured and not supported: LAS, *.LAZ, *.PTS, *.PLY, *.DP, *.ASCII, *.TXT, *.XYZ.
Use Undet Browser as a standalone viewer

Colouring modes
The colouring slider INT/RGB improves data visibility with a default scheme of INT:50 / RGB:50. You can easily customize these settings to match your preferences and workflow needs, ensuring a personalized and transparent visual experience. You can also change the background colour by clicking on this icon.

Undet Browser features for Revit
Specialized Undet Browser features to use with Undet for Revit
First, to use all Undet Browser features, we must activate Scan Positions markers (BB) in the Scan Data Manager.
1. Open Undet Browser using Scan Positions markers (BB) and Call Browser feature
Call Browser Feature: The Call Browser feature in Undet is a powerful tool for working with point clouds more efficiently and streamlining. This feature enables you to open the Undet Browser view simply by clicking on ‘Call Browser’ in the Undet menu and selecting the scan position marker you want to open.
2. Sync Browser (View Sync) feature
The [VS] tool locates the scan station view in the Undet Browser by picking the point in the raster image.
To locate the panoramic scan station view in the Undet Browser, click the VS (view sync) icon and pick a point in the raster image.
After clicking a point on a raster image, a window will appear in the Undet Browser with picked location views from the panoramic scan. Select the position that matches your preference most closely by clicking “Accept” in the Undet browser windows for further viewing.
This feature allows you to place a 3D point in the Revit model by picking a point in Undet Browser. Undet Browser feature [Draw Points] can be performed by activating
Click in Panoramic Scan View to place the point block (annotation symbol*) in the Revit model. This function lets you easily mark objects or places clearly in visible scan station panoramic views.
Activate the [Draw Points] function and pick the point in the Undet Browser panoramic view.
The annotation symbol is inserted automatically into the Revit model as a picked point location through Undet Browser.
* – Annotation symbol should be chosen in the Revit model template. |
4. Translate the View Section to Update Point Cloud Slice Position
The Undet Browser feature [Translate view section] can be activated. From the clicked point in the panoramic scan view, the Undet cut plane (view) elevation reference value of the selected raster image auto-updates or creates a new cut plane (view) elevation reference value.
To update the cut plane(view) elevation reference value, you need to select the raster image in the Revit model and activate the [Translate view section] feature at Undet Browser. Then, you need to pick a point in the panoramic view.
5. View Sync with the Undet plug-in
Synchronize the Undet Browser and Undet plug-in to see the view simultaneously from the same camera position.
- Look for an option called “Call Browser” in the Undet menu or locate the Undet browser in the Slice Manager.
- Press the “View Sync” option. This action should synchronize the views in both the Undet Browser and Revit.
After performing these steps, you should be able to navigate in both views simultaneously, allowing you to see the same camera position in both the Undet Browser and Revit.
5. Model Inspection QC Report
-
Open the Model Inspection Tool. Using this tool, you can generate a QC Report based on 360-degree scan station images in Undet Browser to ensure accuracy or identify missing parts of a 3D model.
-
Set Tolerance: You need to specify the tolerance. For example, if you want to check everything within 30 mm and outside 30 mm, all the parts within 30 mm will be coloured green, and everything outside 30 mm will be coloured red.
-
Set Buffer Zone: This is how far it wants to check the point cloud from the element. For example, if there is a wall, it’ll check 150 mm in one direction and 150 mm in the other direction. You can always limit it. The smaller this number, the faster it will create the report.
-
Set Minimum Face Area: It’ll check all the face areas that are at least this big. Anything bigger than this square area will be checked, and anything smaller than this will not be checked. You can always increase or decrease this number depending on your requirements.
-
Set Sampling Step: Here, you can select the quality of the panoramic image it will create in the report. 1 means it’ll be the best quality, and 10 means it’ll be the least best quality.
-
Generate Report: After setting these parameters, click ‘OK’ to generate the report. It will take some time to create, so you need to wait patiently.
-
Review Report: After completing the process, you can open your browser to examine the report. Green walls indicate they are within tolerance; green floors signify tolerance, gray indicates something is missing, and red means it is outside tolerance.
-
Use Viewsync for Better Understanding: You can combine this report with view sync to see things clearly and better understand. Turn on View sync, look around, and mark which elements are wrong and which are not.
Remember, creating this report takes some time, depending on how much data is processed. But it’s a convenient way of checking all these elements without spending much time making sections or performing surface analysis.
